Dating / viability
The dating or viability ultrasound can determine gestational age (the number of weeks pregnant) with more precision than using the date of the last menstrual period. It is performed from the 10th week of gestation.
1st Trimester - Nuchal Clarity
Performed between 11 weeks + 4 days and 13 weeks + 6 days to assess risk for major chromosomic abnormalities. The examination allows a measurement of nuchal translucency and verifies the presence of the nasal bone and major malformations.
This is performed between 20 and 22 weeks to assess the fetal anatomy by examining the head, thorax, abdomen, spine, and limbs. If the position of the baby allows it, it may be possible to determine its sex.
Aims to monitor the baby's well-being by performing a fetal biophysical profile. Body and respiratory movements, tone, amniotic fluid, and placenta are examined. An estimate of the baby's weight is made. This ultrasound is performed between weeks 32 and 34 of pregnancy.
Duration: 30 minutes
Report sent to your physician
During your ultrasound, when the technician sees that your baby is well positioned, she will capture beautiful 3D images. At the end of your ultrasound, you will receive several printed photos as well as a link containing all those taken during the ultrasound.
In some cases, the baby’s gender can be visualized. However, this will be dependent on the fetus’ gestational age and position.
