INFO OVO CLINIC
Medical Council decision concerning patients over 43 years of age - Recent analysis of in vitro fertilisation cycles carried out at ovo clinic have shown that the chance of obtaining a live birth in patients over 43 years of age are extremely poor. As of the 20th August 2010, the ovo clinic Medical Council has decided to no longer offer IVF to patients over 43 years old. At the ovo clinic the only therapy that will be offered for these patients will be egg donation.
In vitro Fertilisation waiting list - the prioritisation of patients on the waiting list follow rules of fairness and equality. Once you are registered on the waiting list, please wait for the coordination service to communicate with you in order to let you know the process of your cycle.
The Medical Council meets every week in order to assess specific priorities (age, cancer, etc….) For less urgent cases, the date of registration remains the principal criteria.
Costs - For patients from Quebec who have a valid Medicare care, consultations as well as all treatments and procedures necessary for an IVF cycle or insemination (ultrasound, blood taking for estradiol, progesterone and pregnancy test, egg collection and embryo transfer) carried out at ovo fertility are covered by the RAMQ. For men who need surgical sperm retrieval and who have a Medicare card, the treatment is also covered by the RAMQ.
Non-insured services at our clinic include all blood tests, ultrasound for ovarian reserve and semen analysis necessary for patient evaluation before prescribing treatment. A couple can decide to carry out these tests at ovo clinic at their cost, or decide to have the tests performed at the hospital of their choice.
